Happy Birthday, National Geographic!

The National Geographic Society was founded on January 13, 1888, and the first issue of National Geographic magazine was published in October of that year, so NatGeo is celebrating its 125th birthday this year.  There is a special 125th birthday section at the NatGeo site that contains some of the Society’s incomparable photos, a timeline of important events the history of the Society, as well as stories and videos.  There’s so much to explore at the site that you could spend days just marveling at everything that’s there.  And don’t miss the books, dvds and other items in the NatGeo store.

The Washington Post also has 16 photos from NatGeo that you will certainly enjoy.
