The recent kidney stone attack and subsequent “rescue” and transportation of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to a Galapagos Island airport in an Ecuadorian military helicopter reminds us of how important certain founders are to their companies.  What would happen to Amazon if Bezos had died?  Many consider Bezos as important to Amazon as Steve Jobs was to Apple.

The BBC has completed a four part mini-series about the WW II adventures of Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will begin its annual “31 Days of Oscar” series on February 1st.  The list of movies that won Oscars or were nominated for one is too lengthy to list here, but there is definitely something for everyone.  Check out the schedule here.  As you look through the list of films, you will find that many of our greatest movies are based on books.

The next edition of the live author interview program In-Depth on Book TV (C-SPAN2) will air Sunday, February 2, 2014 from noon to 3:00 p.m. ET.  The featured guest will be professor, author, speaker and historian Bonnie Morris.  Her books include Women’s History For Beginners (2012) and Revenge of the Women’s Study Professor (2009).
