Underwater Puppies

Photographer Seth Casteel loves dogs and has found a unique way to photograph them.  All of his photos are taken while they are underwater in a pool.  The resulting books will make the child in you smile because the images are so cute.  He did an interview on National Public Radio that is interesting (along with the nine photos included), and a recent segment on ABC’s Good Morning America shows him at work.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a student trying to get the best grade possible in a course or someone reading for work or pleasure, you need to maximize your comprehension and retention of facts when reading while dedicating as little time as possible to the task.  Here are some hints from Reader’s Digest that will help you.

We spend hours each day scanning websites.  As a result the way we read has changed according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.  “One 2006 study of the eye movements of 232 people looking at Web pages found they read in an “F” pattern, scanning all the way across the top line of text but only halfway across the next few lines, eventually sliding their eyes down the left side of the page in a vertical movement toward the bottom.”

The solution, according to the article, is to slow down, and to spend 30 minutes a day reading the way you read before the age of the internet.
